Landslide Remediation in the Municipality of Kravarsko

Client: Strabag

Year: 2023.

Work Description: To remediate five landslides, micropiles with a diameter of 330mm and depths up to 8.0m were installed. The piles are made of reinforced concrete and connected by a concrete beam. The remediation took place at five locations along local roads in the municipality of Kravarsko, Zagreb County.

Type of Work: Piles

Work Description: For the landslide remediation project, 400 mm diameter bored piles were installed to a depth of up to 10.0 m, along with earthworks and road repairs. The piles are made of reinforced concrete and connected by a concrete beam.

Remediation and Foundation of the Port of Rab

Year: 2023.–2024.

Type of Work: Jet-Grouted Piles

Work Description: Jet grouting piles, with a length of up to 19 m, were installed for the waterfront foundation (coastal protection) to eliminate total and differential settlement. The jet grouting was performed using a dual-fluid method from a floating platform on 3 coastal protection structures to a total absolute depth of -19.0 m.

Temporary Excavation Protection for CS Trajekt, Crikvenica

Type of Work: Jet-Grouted Piles, Jet Concrete, Rock Bolts

Work Description: As part of the excavation below sea level, the construction pit was secured and sealed by installing jet grouted piles with a length of up to 10 m along the sides of the pit, and sealing of the pit’s bottom was performed. The excavation walls were reinforced with jet concrete and self-drilling rock bolts up to 9m long.

Foundation of Noise Protection Walls on the Vinkovci – Vukovar Railway

Work Description: The foundation for the noise protection walls was constructed on drilled piles with a diameter of 600 mm and a depth of up to 8.0 m. The piles were made of reinforced concrete, with a head designed to accommodate the support for the noise barrier posts.

Construction of Underground Connection Corridor between Merkur Hospital and SK Vuk Vrhovec in Zagreb

Type of Work: Micropiles

Work Description: For the construction of the underground passage, micropiles with a diameter of 250 mm and a depth of up to 6.0 m were installed. The piles were made of reinforced concrete and connected with a concrete beam. The work was performed inside the building in a restricted space.

Structural Restoration of the Croatian Music Institute Building in Zagreb

Type of Work: Micropiles, shotcrete

Work Description: For the structural renovation of the building (reinforcement of internal and external walls), shotcrete was applied to the load-bearing walls. The geotechnical works for the structure’s renovation included the installation of micropiles with a diameter of 150 mm and a depth of up to 12.0 m for the foundation of new staircases and elevators, as well as micropiles with a diameter of 250 mm for the sprinkler pool.

EL-TO Facility in Zagreb – NTK4 Boiler

Year: 2023.

Type of Work: Micropiles and Piles
Work Description: Micropiles with diameters of 200 mm and 400 mm, and a depth of up to 7 meters, were installed to protect the construction pit and support the foundation of the boiler. The piles were executed as reinforced concrete.

Landslide Remediation in Župić on DC37, Petrinja-Glina

Type of Work: Earthworks, Micropiles, Rock Bolts, Drainage, Road Reconstruction (Asphalt paving)

Work Description: Reinforced concrete micropiles with a diameter of 250 mm and a depth of up to 7.0 meters were installed for landslide remediation, connected by a concrete beam. Permanent geotechnical bolts, 12 m in length, were installed through the concrete beam to ensure additional stability. The landslide remediation included earthworks, material replacement, and the reconstruction of the roadway, followed by final asphalt paving.

Exploratory Works at the Sirač Quarry

Type of Work: Exploratory Drilling
Work Description: For the purpose of expanding and operating the quarry, a series of geotechnical and engineering geological survey works were conducted, including the execution of several exploratory boreholes. The boreholes ranged in depth from 20 m to 45 m.

Reconstruction of Part of the Coastline in Cavtat Port

Investor: Port Authority of Dubrovnik-Neretva County

Type of Work: Jet Grouting

Work Description: In the coastal remediation and waterfront construction project at Cavtat Port, vertical and inclined jet-grouted piles with diameters of 700 mm and 1200 mm were installed, with depths reaching up to 18 meters. The piles were executed for the purpose of foundation for the new structure and reinforcement of the existing waterfront wall. The reconstruction covered a 250-meter stretch of the shoreline.

Baglihar HE Power Plant Dam – Stage II, Jammu & Kashmir State, India

Work Description: As part of the construction and hydro-technical works for Phase 2 of BHEEPP, contact and consolidation grouting were performed, along with the installation of a grout curtain on the intake hydro-technical tunnel.

Injection Curtain Construction at the Ponikve Reservoir Dam, Island of Krk

Type of Work: Drilling and Consolidation Grouting

Work Description: The injection curtain construction involved geological drilling, drilling for injection curtain grouting (12.3 km), secondary drilling (3.8 km), and consolidation grouting in phases (5.0 km). A total of approximately 1,300 tons of dry material was used for grouting.

Work Description: As part of the landslide remediation, 4,975m of drilling and consolidation grouting were conducted, using 1,192 tons of dry material. Additionally, 1,544m prestressed geotechnical rock bolts were installed.

Work Description: To modernize the dam monitoring system, piezometers were installed, and measuring equipment was placed into the drilled boreholes at the dams of HE Jablanica, HE Grabovica, and HE Salakovac.

Slope Protection at the Vitaljina Border Crossing

Work Description: During the construction works for the border crossing, geotechnical works were performed to protect the slope, which included the installation of drilled piles (800mm), shotcrete application in two and three layers, prestressed geotechnical anchors, exploratory drilling, and consolidation grouting.

Description of works: To seal the construction pit from the sea’s impact, drilling was conducted through the piles to stabilize the pit, followed by consolidation grouting of the rock layer beneath the piles and the application of shotcrete as the excavation advanced.

Description of works: For the purpose of securing the temporary construction pit, micropiles were installed to secure the embankment. As excavation progressed, a systematic protection system was applied, including active and passive bar anchors and shotcrete. A protective mesh was also installed in part of the pit.

Work Description: For securing the temporary construction pit with a depth of 19.0 m, micropiles were installed to secure the embankment. As excavation progressed, a systematic protection system was implemented using geotechnical bar anchors up to 15.0 m in length.

Foundation and Excavation Protection for West Bus Žabica Station, Rijeka

Description of works: Over 300 reinforced concrete bored piles, with a diameter of 900 mm and a depth of up to 30.0 meters, are being installed for the foundation of the future structure. Driven steel profiles and jet-grouted piles were installed to secure and seal the construction pit.
